Insurance & Billing at Natural Flow of Life Acupuncture and Herbs

At Natural Flow of Life Acupuncture and Herbs in Denver, we’re happy to work with insurance when acupuncture benefits are available on your plan.

Because every policy is different, we verify your coverage before treatment so you understand exactly what your plan may cover and what your out-of-pocket responsibility will be.

If you’re not using insurance, we also offer simple, transparent self-pay rates.

Accepted Insurance Plans

We currently accept the following insurance plans:

    • Workers’ Compensation (Network Access Plan)
    • CMS Required Chronic Low Back Pain (Medicare Advantage HMO & PPO; Benefit Plan)
  3. Centivo (Benefit Plan)
  4. ChooseHealthy Program
  5. Cigna Healthcare
    • Benefit Plan
    • CMS Required Chronic Low Back Pain (Medicare Advantage HMO & PPO; Benefit Plan)
  6. Providence Health Plan (Commercial Network Access Plan)

If your plan isn’t listed, we may still be able to bill your plan out-of-network, depending on your benefits. You may also use HSA or FSA cards for eligible acupuncture services.

Our Insurance Verification Process

  1. Share your insurance information
    Submit your details through our secure new-patient forms in the EHR, or call 720-443-0316 or email [email protected].
  2. We contact your insurance plan to confirm:
    • Whether acupuncture is covered
    • Any visit limits or annual session caps
    • Copayment, coinsurance, and deductible details
  3. We review your benefits with you
    You’ll receive a summary of coverage and estimated patient responsibility before treatment.
  4. You choose how to proceed
    If coverage is partial or unavailable, we’ll discuss self-pay options or blended plans.

Note: Verification is for informational purposes only and not a guarantee of payment. Final payment decisions are made by your insurance company after claims are processed.

Patient Financial Responsibility

Even when we bill insurance, your policy is an agreement between you (and/or your employer) and your insurer.

  • You’re responsible for any copay, coinsurance, or deductible required by your plan.
  • You’re responsible for any non-covered services (e.g., those deemed “not medically necessary,” “not a covered benefit,” or “out-of-network”).
  • If your insurer pays less than expected or denies a claim, you’re responsible for the remaining balance according to our financial policy.

All insurance patients review and sign an Insurance Patient Consent, Assignment & Financial Responsibility Agreement in our EHR before treatment.

Services That May Not Be Covered by Insurance

  • Cupping
  • Gua sha
  • Moxibustion
  • Herbal consultations and custom formulas
  • Certain adjunct or wellness-focused visits

If any service isn’t covered by your plan, we’ll inform you and provide self-pay options before treatment.

Workers’ Compensation & CMS Chronic Low Back Pain Plans

  • Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Workers’ Compensation (Network Access Plan)
  • CMS Required Chronic Low Back Pain Benefit Plans through American Specialty Health Group, Cigna Healthcare, and Anthem Medicare Advantage HMO/PPO

Additional referrals or authorizations may apply. Please mention these plans when scheduling so we can review requirements.

No Insurance? We’ve Got You Covered.

If you don’t have acupuncture coverage or prefer not to use insurance, you’re welcome to visit us at our self-pay rates. See our Rates page or call 720-443-0316 for current pricing and available packages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you guarantee my insurance will pay?
No. Verification is a courtesy; only your insurer makes final payment decisions. You’re responsible for any portion they don’t cover.

Do I need a referral?
Some HMO or Medicare Advantage plans require prior authorization. We’ll let you know if this applies.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card?
Yes — most acupuncture and herbal services are HSA/FSA-eligible.

What if my plan is out-of-network?
We may be able to bill out-of-network or provide a superbill for possible reimbursement.
